Eleanor20 viewsMost notable among Eleanor's contributions here in Berkshire County has been the establishment of a new organization called Save the Housatonic - an initiative to get the state's Secretary of Environmental Affairs, Ian Bowles, to declare and incorporate a ACEC designation of the upper Housatonic River. On March 30th of this year she was successful!!!

Although retired, Geore was one of the driving forces along with Eleanor in the effort to get the Upper Housatonic River declaared an Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC). He also wrote the visionary Scenic Mountains Act, a piece of legislation that was pushed through in 1974 and adopted in nearly a dozen Berkshire towns.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he works tirelessly on pheasant stocking programs, fundraising activities, and is a staple with the club's youth programs. He coaches Cheshire Little League, is a member of the Cheshire Fire Dept., and an official for all track & field events at Hoosac Valley High School.
